nsaldo Energia has announced that Marbach power plant, its second project within the German TSO "besonderes netztechnisches Betriebsmittel - bnBm" (strategic grid reserve) initiative is now in full commercial operation.  Marbach is a 300 MW simple cycle thermoelectric plant equipped with proven AE94.3A gas turbine and generator. This powerful combination can provide electricity for over 200,000 homes, significantly boosting Germany's energy security.

The Marbach plant is designed to operate in gas shortage situations by using oil and eventually green, decarbonized liquid fuels such as HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil), ensuring a stable grid and strengthening Germany's energy security, with NOx emissions that remain below 50 mg/Nm³, which represents a cutting-edge technology.

AE 94.3A gas turbine, in particular, can guarantee high flexibility to the plant, with a ramp-rate of 50 MW/min and reaching full load in 26 minutes. This gas turbine is an extremely reliable machine from Ansaldo Energia, already installed in over 110 units and with more 5 millions EOH.

Marbach marks another milestone in Ansaldo Energia's growing presence in the German market, a leader in innovative approaches to the energy transition. Its turbines, known for their operational flexibility, ideally suited to meet Germany's energy security needs. The entire Ansaldo Energia fleet is already set up for mix combustion with hydrogen: the AE94.3A turbine, in particular, can reach 40% mix, reports the company.
