PetroVietnam Power Corporation’s (PV Power) has awarded GE a contract to provide power generation equipment for energy company Nhon Trach 3 and 4 combined cycle power plant. Scheduled for full commercial operation in 2025, the 1.6GW Nhon Trach plant will provide power for industrial parks in the Vung Tau provinces about 70 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This is GE’s first H-Class gas turbine order in Vietnam and according to GE, will be the first power plant fuelled by liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the country.
For the Nhon Trach expansion, GE will provide two blocks of more than 800MW each including a GE 9HA.02 gas turbine, an STF-D650 steam turbine, a W88 generator, a Once Through Heat Recovery Steam Generator (OT HRSG) and GE’s integrated Mark VIe Distributed Control System (DCS).
