Falck Renewables and BlueFloat Energy  have proposed a plan involving the siting of a 975 MW floating offshore wind farm off the north-eastern coast of Sardinia. The project - yet to be formally approved - involves 62 floating wind turbines, based 25 to 40 km from the coast, offering a projected power generation output of over 3.4 TWh. A project like this could avoid the release of more than 1.6 million tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided each year, says the two companies involved.
