Teksan is a world-renowned engineering and technology company founded in 1994 in Tuzla, Istanbul. The company specialises in designing and installing high-quality diesel, natural gas, and biogas generator sets, as well as mobile lighting towers and hybrid power systems.
Teksan enjoys a strong presence in over 140 countries, providing high-quality tailored power solutions for various sectors, including construction, telecommunications, and industrial plants. The company is recognised globally for its commitment to sustainability and innovation, offering products which meet the energy needs of diverse markets worldwide.
Teksan recently fulfilled a contract for FANUC Turkey at Istanbul's Sancaktepe Technology Center, by supplying and installing a TJ1100PE5L – 1000 kVA Prime Power Seismically Certified Generator Set.
FANUC is a global Japan-based technology manufacturer operating in the field of industrial automation. FANUCC's primary requirement was for a highly-reliable, earthquake-resistant, and synchronisation-ready backup power system. Today, the new facility not only fully enhances the company’s operational capacity in Turkey, but is also designed in line with sustainable and uninterrupted operations principles.
Technical Solution and Implementation Details
*TJ1100PE5L – 1000 kVA Prime Power Generator Set
The generator set deployed at FANUC’s new technology centre was specifically configured not only for current requirements but also for the site’s future growth plans, ensuring long-term scalability and operational flexibility for increasing power demands. Its robust design and component selection also support continuous operation under demanding industrial conditions.
•Synchronisation-Ready Automatic System: The generator set was configured for operation in automatic mode. Additionally, the system was equipped with the necessary infrastructure for synchronisation, in case of future capacity expansion and integration of additional generators. The control panel was selected to be compatible with synchronisation when replaced.
•Earthquake Resistance – Seismically Certified Equipment:
Located in an active earthquake zone, this project prioritized seismic durability. The installed generator set is certified to international seismic standards. Spring isolators installed between the generator base and the foundation play a key role in minimising damage during seismic activity.
•Advanced Sound Attenuation: Equipped with a critical type muffler, the system minimises operational noise levels, ensuring comfort for personnel and compliance with key environmental standards. This helps to reduce noise pollution in surrounding areas, particularly important for facilities located near residential or mixed-use zones.
•10-Hour External Fuel Tank with Smart Refueling: The external daily fuel tank provides uninterrupted fuel supply for up to 10 hours. When the fuel level drops below a critical threshold, the automatic refueling system is triggered, refilling the tank without requiring user intervention—thus preventing power interruptions. It also ensures optimal fuel management and improves operational efficiency over long-duration power cuts.
•High Temperature Resistance and Stable Performance: The alternator features special winding insulation for safe operation under high temperatures. Furthermore, the AREP-supported AVR system guarantees stable voltage, even during sudden load changes. This ensures reliable performance for sensitive & high-precision equipment under varying load and environmental conditions.
•As a result, critical systems remain protected against voltage fluctuations and thermal stress.
With this power infrastructure, achieved with Teksan's practical help, FANUC’s new technology centre is now prepared not only to meet current operational demands but also those of future expansion.
Thanks to seismic safety measures, automation, and a scalable infrastructure, the facility is equipped with a reliable, sustainable, and flexible energy management system. This investment brings FANUC closer to its “zero downtime” goal, while also ensuring preparedness against natural disasters and power outages - and it is all thanks to Teksan, whose foundations were laid by the late Abdulkadir Teksan and Özdemir Ata, establishing the company in Tuzla, Istanbul in 1994.
