Mitsubishi Power, a power industry brand of MHI, is now operating a third M701JAC gas turbine unit installed at a Gulf SRC plant in Chonburi Province, Thailand. It is the third of eight such GTs destined for a project to build two natural gas-fired power plants in the country. The unit was inaugurated on 31 March, as part of a joint venture of Gulf Energy Development Public Company Ltd, one of Thailand's largest independent power producers, and Mitsui & Co. The first unit, which was also the first M701JAC in Southeast Asia, started commercial operations at the end of March 2021. Once completed, the eight units in the project will form a gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power system with a total output of 5300 MW.
