audi Arabia is known for its skyscrapers and architecture, but none of its previous projects have been as ambitious as The Line, a city of the future presented by Crown Prince and Chairman of NEOM Mohammed bin Salman. The Line is a walled city just 200 meters wide but 170 km long, which is supposed to be located at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level. The city is designed for 9 million inhabitants and is being built on an area of 34 square kilometres. According to the architects, the small width of the city will reduce the area of infrastructure and create unprecedented efficiency of city functions. Residents will have access to all important facilities within a 5-minute walk. Around 2.5 gigawatts of extra energy will be required annually to support the needs of the 9 million population.
