enesal Energy has designed and manufactured the emergency backup power system for DemoSATH, Spain’s first floating offshore wind turbine connected to the grid. Installed at the BiMEP test site in Armintza (Bizkaia), DemoSATH supplies electricity to over 2,000 households.

The project required a generator set capable of withstanding harsh marine conditions two nautical miles offshore, ensuring control and communication systems remain operational during outages.

Genesal’s tailored 50 kVA genset includes motorised louvres, special anti-vibration features, a C5-treated canopy, adaptation for use at sea, plus an anticondensation heater. Partners in the initiative include Saitec Offshore Technologies, RWE, and Kansai Electric Power.

The main features of this generator set are:

• A motorised louvers system for optimal thermal insulation of the cooling system from the outdoor conditions.

• Antivibration special features tested by a multibody dynamic simulation.

• C5 Canopy special treatment.

• Totally marinized genset.

• Anticondensation heater in the alternator.
