lectra Molins has supplied 1 x 2,500 kVA with Baudouin engine 20M33 and Mecc Alte alternator controlled by a MP15 for paralleling with a different genset for Institut Català d'Oncologia-Hospital Duran i Reynals. The Catalan Institute of Oncology is a specialised cancer institution created in 1995 by the Catalan Government’s Ministry of Health. Currently, the ICO constitutes of four centres which work together with four university hospitals: Bellvitge Hospital, Dr. Josep Trueta Hospital, Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital and Joan XXIII Hospital. The ICO works in a co-ordinated way with 18 local hospitals across the region to reduce the impact of cancer in Catalonia.
A company spokesman commented: " The Duran i Reynals Oncology Hospital specified the replacement of its existing generator set No.2 with a new group with a slightly higher power: 2,500 KVA. The new configuration of gensets had to be able to operate in parallel with the current group No.1 of 2,200 KVA. Both groups will be able to switch without a power cut. The project also includes the remodelling of the electrical panels for controlling groups and automatic switching between network and group."
The Baudouin engine reflects a new generation of high-end engine M33 platform products. The M33 generator sets are engineered to deliver industry-leading performance, reliability, and efficiency, ensuring uninterrupted power for mission-critical locations such as hospital and critical data centre applications. The M33 delivers up to 5250 kVA, ideal for critical operations and exceed stringent standards, including Uptime Institute standards.
The M33 meets Tier requirements and ISO 8528-G3, providing operators with peace of mind and have been optimised for sudden power demands with dual starting motor redundancy, enhancing reliability in emergencies.
The gensets are equipped with 4 turbochargers, they handle 0-100% exceptional load transitions, ensuring seamless operations during power fluctuations. They are compatible with oversized alternators for low and high-voltage applications, adapting to diverse facility requirements, being built from high-quality, durable materials and assembled for long-lasting performance. The sets have been designed for optimised fuel consumption, ensuring cost-selective operation without compromising power output, says Baudouin.
A spokesman comments: "The M33 features a user-friendly design for straightforward installation. Seamlessly integrates into existing systems, simplifying deployment for operators.
With the M33 and M55 gensets, data centre operators can ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable power solutions that meet the demands of today's mission-critical environments."
