Harbin Electric has received an order from Chinese state-owned power utility Shenzhen energy Group for power generation equipment for its Guangming combined cycle power plant, located in the Shenzhen Guangming district of Guangdong province. Powered by three GE 9HA.01 gas turbines, the plant is expected to deliver up to 2 GW of electricity to the most populous province in the country, population 126 million. Plans are for the first unit to be operational by end of 2023, to coincide with the retirement of the Guangdong Shajiao coal-fired power complex which is scheduled for 2025. The Chinese government is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions; it has undertaken to have CO2 emissions peak before 2030 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
