S

panish infrastructure firm Elecnor has won its first contract in Belgium. The company will build a biomass-fired combined heat and power plant in the city of Ghent after signing a €86 million contract with Gentse Warmte Centrale (GWC), a joint venture between Belgian Eco Energy (BEE) and Equitix. The 19.9 MWe plant will burn locally-sourced non-recyclable demolition wood and will be located in a former coal terminal in the port of Ghent. It will generate electricity and will also supply steam for nearby industries.
