K-based  FW Power Generators Ltd has announced the successful relocation of a 15-megawatt STOR (Short Term Operating Reserve) power plant to Northern Iraq, where it will now serve as a vital source of energy for the region’s urgent power needs.

The project included 12 x FG Wilson P1250P3 generator sets, each housed in soundproof canopies to ensure reliable and quiet operation. A Short Term Operating Reserve (STOR) power plant is a facility which provides additional power to the grid during periods of high demand or unexpected outages.  STOR is a contracted service where generators, battery storage systems, or flexible power plants deliver extra power to the region’s grid.

In Iraq this service is crucial for maintaining grid stability and ensuring that electricity is available when needed. STOR providers are required to meet specific criteria, such as having a minimum contracted MW capability of 3MW and being able to sustain output for 2 hours.

Executing this relocation required meticulous planning, coordination, and logistical expertise. From the decommissioning and preparation of the UK site to the transportation, reassembly, and commissioning stages in Iraq, every aspect of the project was carefully managed by the FW Power team to ensure safe delivery and efficient deployment.

This achievement highlights FW Power’s ability to deliver complex, large-scale power solutions globally, demonstrating both technical excellence and operational reliability.

As regional demand for stable and efficient power generation continues to grow, FW Power remains committed to providing dependable, turnkey energy solutions — wherever they are needed most.

The FG Wilson P1250P3 generator deployed is widely regarded a versatile and reliable power generation solution designed for various applications.

It is capable of providing continuous electrical power at variable load and can supply 10% overload power for 1 hour in 12 hours.

The generator is peak continuous rated, ensuring efficient operation under load conditions. It is suitable for supplying power in mini power stations, airports, hospitals, and the financial sector.   The generator set is available with a 50°C package option to ensure efficient operation in high ambient temperatures and can be customised with bespoke enclosures, cooling systems, and specialized control systems.
