LCOS POWER GENERATORS has supplied 50 X 20 kVA diesel gensets for Telecom applications successfully across Malawi, Africa. They are currently ensuring maximum performance, reliability, and flawless connectivity, reports the company. Powered by Perkins/Yanmar engines  and fitted with STAMFORD | AvK alternators.
A company spokesman comments: "With over 45 years of experience, ELCOS POWER GENERATORS continues to be a leader in dependable energy solutions. Our power generators for telecom applications are built for ensure maximum performance, reliability and flawless connectivity. ELCOS SRL is among the main Italian companies which produce generators. ELCOS develops, produces, sells and installs systems for the generation of electric energy for a total of 700 MW per year.
ELCOS is well-known as a generator provider across Africa. Elcos was chosen to providea cement factory with six generating sets (making a total of 6000 kVA) in a medium voltage power plant working in parallel system.  Altogether, six GE.PK 1380\1250 gensets were supplied in a 40-foot HC Container with an air ventilation and smoke detection system.
This proved a remarkable team effort:  the  role of this medium voltage power plant was to guarantee facility operations even during extreme weather conditions.
The plant was supplied with 1,000 litre  fuel tank and step-up transformer in “eco-design” which guarantees a noise level equal to 65dBA @ 7mt at full load. Three 20-foot
HC container were provided, with a design which allows a 15,000 litre fuel tank: every container will feed two generating sets for the MV parallel system.
Perkins provided six type 4012-46TWG2A EU Stage I engines, each equipped with an electronic speed governor, while the brushless alternators were of the STAMFORD type with AVR.
In2021 ELCOS supplied  an industrial brewery in Ethiopia with plant consisting of three generator sets (2MVA) in a 40-foot HC container in medium voltage with 33kVac / 50Hz output. The parallel system is powered by seven double-wall fuel tanks of 20,000L-litres each. The power available from the parallel system is equal to 6 MVA in self-production and / or emergency to the mains.
A spokesman comments:
"The supply of a turnkey solution was necessary to minimise installation times and costs. We supplied a flexible system capable of meeting the customer’s needs in terms of efficiency and safety, in the supply of a 24h/7 production plant. In this regard, three ISO 40-foot HC containers were designed, built and supplied, containing both the generating sets and the 400Vac / 33kVac step-up transformers. A functional management system was developed # to manage the startup of the system both manually and automatically through the direct control of the medium voltage cell system, not supplied by ELCOS. The plant has been set up for the integration of a fourth machine in the near future.
ELCOS also provided an onsite team, made up of 14 skilled technicians, who received training on installation procedures and for the periodic maintenance and commissioning of Elcos generating sets. Specific training was provided to cover engines, alternators and control panels for the management and control of the units.
