ITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES has been awarded a contract for a 3.5 MW natural gas fired power station - once installed it will be the main power source for the state of the art - Pocari Sweat NG factory in Nigeria. A company spokesman comments:
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine Europe for the support shown to win this deal. This is just the start for more big projects to come to the Nigerian market. We don't sell generators, we sell power solutions."
In November 1013 as part of its US$50M business investment in Nigeria, Otsuka Nigeria Nutraceuticals Company (ONNC), a subsidiary of Otsuka Pharmaceutical Company Japan performed the ground-breaking ceremony for Pocari Sweat’s manufacturing factory in Sagamu, Ogun State Nigeria on 24th November 2023. Otsuka Pharmaceutical company, a publicly quoted business in Japan and one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the world has been in business for 102 years.
Pocari Sweat is an ION Supply Health Drink, a high-quality product of Japanese science with a composition similar to the body fluid. It is said to replenish ions lost to sweat, rehydrate the body faster as well as hydrating the body for longer.
According to the Managing Director of Otsuka Nigeria Nutraceuticals Company, Mr. Yoshihiro Bando during the ceremony, the factory, when commissioned, will bring a huge economic contribution to Nigeria as it promises to create about 1,100 jobs in the future and will also source about 80% of the raw materials locally. He reports: “Nigeria represents an important market and with a rising and vibrant population, our ultimate aim with the factory here is to meet the growing demand for optimum rehydration by bringing the goodness one of the world’s best ION Supply Drink to Nigerians with a production base in the country.” When this factory is completed, it will become Otsuka’s first factory for Nutraceuticals and Pocari Sweat in Africa."
