NERGETUS S.A.  has ensured that 14 backup generator sets were delivered and installed at Start Campus in Sines, said to be the location for biggest data centre under development in the whole of Portugal.

The Start Campus in Sines, Portugal, is currently focussed on the development of its SIN02 hyperscale data centre, which is designed for high-density AI and HPC workloads. The campus is being sustainably developed with a focus on renewable energy and seawater cooling systems to minimise freshwater use.

The first building, SIN01, became operational in late 2024 and is now in full operation at 37.5MW. The construction of SIN02 is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, with the first suite delivered to the customer, Nscale, at the end of 2025. The campus is also a strategic hub for the future of AI and cloud infrastructure in Europe, with direct access to international subsea connectivity and long-term expansion capacity.

ENERGETUS S.A. is responsible for the full EPC scope on the Start Campus site, delivering a complete turnkey backup power solution to the client. The systems are equipped with Rolls-Royce Power Systems MTU engines and containerised by the partner company Etermar Energia in Setúbal.

A company spokesman commented: "The remaining ten generator sets will be delivered over coming weeks, marking another important milestone as we are proud to contribute to the construction of the largest data centre in Portugal."
