rime has launched a fuel cell powered lighting tower as an extension of its existing hybrid lighting tower range.  The X-Hydro, which will be commercially available by January 2026, will be powered by a Hymera 200 fuel cell manufactured by BOC using high pressure hydrogen cylinders, with enough capacity to operate for two weeks between bottle replacement.

“People are increasingly asking for alternatives where there’s no emissions and no noise”, said Paul Hay, managing director of Trime UK, “And this is something that is a good fit for that.

The Hymera 200 fuel cell, manufactured by BOC, is a portable power generator which uses hydrogen fuel cell technology. It provides up to 200 watts of peak power and operates efficiently in temperatures ranging from -10 to +40 degrees Celsius. The unit is designed for off-grid applications, such as task lighting, security cameras, and environmental monitoring, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional diesel generators. The HYMERA can generate 6-7 kWh of electricity per cylinder, making it suitable for a variety of commercial and industrial uses
