newly-built data centre has been fitted with MTU/Rolls Royce gensets at a site in Settimo Milanese, Italy. The plant consists of 12 units of 4 MVA, for a total installed power of about 50 MVA, produced directly on medium voltage. The power package was built using special soundproofing containers of imposing dimensions containing the complete generator and its accessories, and an emission abatement system using SCR has also been installed, in order to fall within the emission limits imposed by regional regulations. A great effort by the entire staff, which achieved an important result.
Bespoke Acoustic Enclosures each house a 4000 kVA MTU diesel generator set. The enclosures have been attenuated to noise level of just 65 dB(A) at 1 metre, with penthouse inlet and outlet attenuation due to the limited footprint available on site. Alongside the generators themselves, each enclosure has been packaged with internal ventilation fans, lube oil tanks, medium voltage cabling from the genset to the link box, fuel polishers, water mist fire suppression systems, and other auxiliary equipment.
