Two 1100KVA Bahmani NGT1100 diesel gensets specially designed for standby applications were supplied by the Bahmani Group to one of the key government hospitals in Abu Dhabi. It is reported that these sets have been providing vital backup power for the facility in case of a mains power failure in the local grid without any problems since their installation in 2023.
Producing reliable power at 1100 kVA, 50 Hz, each NGT 1100 GC diesel generator set is built to meet ISO 8528-5 transient response requirements and to accept 100% rated load in one step; this generator set type also offers a low fuel consumption system and accepts 100% Block Load and a demonstrated capability to pick up large onsite loads.
Each NGT Gen set is equipped with a DSE controller (DSE7320), made in the UK by one of the world’s top manufacturers. An advanced and user-friendly controller, it helps to maintain each set’s low fuel consumption, saving on fuel spend. Its compact and rugged design also saves on transport and storage costs.
The DSE7320 unit in each set is described as a ‘feature packed Auto Mains (Utility) Failure Control Module designed to control single diesel or gas genset applications’. The unit features a heated display option. This ensures the display continues to operate in extreme cold weather conditions. There is also 3-phase generator and mains (utility) sensing to provide true generator and mains (utility) sensing and clear accurate power measurement information. A remote communications (RS232 & RS485) resource provides secure and simple offsite monitoring. All ports are continuously active. Configurable inputs/outputs (9/8) in the unit provide multiple installation options. CAN and magnetic pick-up sensing makes the module ideal for standard and electronic engine applications.
There are fuel usage monitor and low level alarms. The unit will tracks the amount of fuel being used and sound an alarm if over/under fuel use is detecte Tier 4 CAN engine support is provided by the DSE7320 which ensures the control module can be used with the latest in modern electronic engine technology. The DSE7320 allows manual/automatic load transfer to ensures the load can be transferred both manually/automatically between mains (utility) and the generator power.
Another vital feature of the unit is the power save mode which reduces the power usage within system batteries.
An integral PLC editor means that additional applications are easily integrated into the system. There are also flexible sender inputs. These allow alternative sender types to be selected using one input. Software provides complete user-friendly configuration and easy-to-use high-level system control & monitoring.
A configurable event log (250) provides access to historical alarms and operational status. Another useful feature allows load switching, load shedding & dummy load outputs. The DSE7320 allows load options and dummy load requirements to be independently controlled. Additional features with the DSE controller include customisable status screens, multiple date & time scheduler, a charge alternator failure alarm and CAN engine manual speed control.
The DSE7320 provides manual fuel pump control, an engine exerciser and kW & kV Ar overload protection along with reverse power (kW & kV Ar) protection, unbalanced load protection and USB connectivity. In addition there is a backed-up real time clock, configurable Gencomm pages, SMS messaging start & stop functionality and modem diagnostic display screens. There is also remote display support (max 3 units).
