he Gastroenterology Hospital of La Paz, in Bolivia, will be the first ‘Level 4’ Hospital in the nation and is set to provide a benchmark for high standards in all of South America. Still under construction, the building is located at an altitude of 3,600 metres above sea level and will provide the most advanced comprehensive care for gastric disorders thanks to 14 sub-specialties and a staff of more than 600 people. Continuous supply of electricity is always important, but when it comes to hospitals, it is vital. Only top-quality, robust and 100% reliable equipment can guarantee the safety of patients, staff and infrastructure.
The hospital authorities specified a GENESAL ENERGY GEN2046YC generator for the site. A spokesman comments:
"Genesal Energy designed, manufactured and installed a generator set to provide emergency support for the new hospital’s critical services in the event of a mains failure. Their customer needed equipment with great autonomy, given the location of the hospital complex. The customer had an existing tank for refilling the daily tank of the generator set. Also, given that the loads of the installation may create energy regeneration, the genset also has inverse-power and excitation-loss protections to ensure that the equipment will not be damaged if the power of any of these regenerative loads is excessive while the genset is in operation."
